We started as river guides.
The desk came later.

Vang Vieng Adventure Co. was started by three friends who'd spent their twenties guiding tubing trips and rigging climbing ropes on the karsts. We saw too many travelers booking blindly through middle-agents who'd never set foot on the river, and the operators getting a fraction of what was paid.

So we built a small, careful catalog of the people we'd actually send our friends and family to — and let travelers book directly. That's still the whole business.
