Best time to visit
October to March is the sweet spot — dry, mild, perfect balloon mornings. April–May is hot. June–September brings rain, dramatic green, and full rivers (some activities pause during high water).

Getting there
From Vientiane: 1 hr by high-speed train to Vang Vieng Station, or 3.5 hrs by minivan. From Luang Prabang: 1 hr train or 5–6 hrs by road. We can arrange transfers — just ask.

Safety on the river
Always wear the life vest, even if you can swim. Don't drink before tubing. Don't jump from heights you can't see the bottom of. We brief every group before launch.

What to pack
Quick-dry clothes, reef-safe sunscreen, a dry bag (we provide one for water trips), light hiking shoes, a headlamp if you plan to do caves, and Lao kip in small bills for riverside bars.

Money & connectivity
ATMs accept foreign cards. USD and Thai baht are commonly accepted in town. 4G is reliable in town but spotty in the karsts — download offline maps before heading out.

Etiquette
Cover shoulders and knees when visiting temples. Always ask before photographing locals. Tipping isn't expected but a 10% gratuity for a guide who made your day is appreciated.
